BREAST CANCER PREVENTION TIP #2 LIMIT YOUR ALCOHOL

Updated: Mar 7, 2020

The fact is - the more alcohol you consume, the greater your risk of developing breast cancer.

WHY? Alcohol consumption affects breast cancer risk through:

  • the alteration in hormone levels

  • the metabolism of ethanol resulting in carcinogens

  • and the inhibition of the one carbon metabolism pathway, which is important for multiple physiological processes.

"A 2016 systematic review found 15 meta-analyses on the risk relationship between alcohol consumption and the risk of breast cancer.

All but 2 of these analyses showed a dose-response relationship between alcohol consumption and the risk of breast cancer, even with light consumption."
